Tarifa is the wind capital of Europe, and the most southerly point of mainland Europe. Ocean winds from the Atlantic (the Poniente, SW), Venturi winds from the Strait of Gibraltar (the Levante, E) and thermals at Valdevaqueros means that there's almost always wind somewhere around Tarifa. 7km of unbroken sandy beach means there's always a free spot to kite, even in the summer when over 1,000 kites can be flying at once. Tarifa offers great food and nightlife, beautiful scenery and, of course, many schools where you can learn to kitesurf
